As a means to reset the gut, fecal matter transplant (FMT), shows promise as a way to alleviate allergic conditions, according to an August 13 2026 trial. Scientists at Boston Children’s Hospital gave FMT capsules to 15 adults with peanut allergies taken from healthy adults. The clinical trial resulted in no allergic reaction and no notable side effects to the transplant itself.
Researchers state that it takes around 6 months of daily oral immunotherapy for patients to tolerate a dose of 300 milligrams of peanut protein,” with about half of the participants saw meaningful, long-lasting benefits, the researchers write in their paper according to Science Alert.
